Do restaurant<\/a> at 22 Piekary Street in downtown Pozna\u0144, we made the seating Paris<\/a> in two shapes at once. Straight runs went along the walls, and around the round table we made a semi-circular booth, embracing it like a horseshoe. The whole thing is in turquoise velour with vertical channel stitching.<\/p>\n

At the communal pot, the shape of the seat has a function<\/h2>\n

In a hot pot, the food is cooked in the middle of the table and everyone reaches into the same dish. A guest sitting in the corner of a rectangular bench has a noticeably longer reach to the center of the tabletop than someone in the middle, and with this way of eating, that is felt throughout the entire meal.<\/p>\n

The horseshoe shape eliminates this problem because everyone sits at roughly an equal distance from the center. The shape results from the way people eat here, not from the designer's preference. In a restaurant where guests cook together at the table, this is the difference between a comfortable evening and constantly stretching across the countertop.<\/p>\n

Two shapes, one fabric<\/h2>\n

The room combines two completely different layouts: angular sections along the walls and circular islands in the center. It would be easy to end up with a stylistic mismatch here.<\/p>\n

One decision holds it together: the same turquoise velvet and the same finish in both variants. The vertical channel stitching runs identically on the straight section and on the curve, so the eye reads the room as a whole, even though the piece of furniture has two different geometries. In addition, there are wooden bases beneath the seats, matched to the wall paneling.<\/p>\n

Upholstery next to the cooking table<\/h2>\n

The tables in this venue have a built-in heating plate and extractor hoods above the countertop. Therefore, the seating operates in an environment of steam, odor, and grease rising from the cooking, and not just in contact with the guest.<\/p>\n

Velvet in such a place requires a conscious decision rather than a reflex.
