Velvet in a café works to a different rhythm than leatherette in a club
A cafe guest sits with a coffee and stays for an hour. They don't spill drinks, squeeze between the table and the backrest in a crowd, or lean against the seat while standing. Surfaces wear down more slowly and differently than in a nightclub.

Furniture as the only calm plane in an ornate interior
The wall against which the seat stands is covered with a mural. The interior has a lot of detail and a lot of color, so the furniture had the opposite task of usual: not to add, but to organize.
The saturated red of the velvet is the only large, uniform plane of color in this room. The seat completes the decor rather than competing with it, and at the same time organizes the arrangement of tables along the entire wall. A continuous sofa does the same thing in such an interior as a frame around a painting.
What does „continuous” mean for a piece of furniture that is coming in pieces anyway
No sequence of this length enters the premises in one piece. We assemble it from modules, typically one meter or 1.2 meters, up to a maximum of 1.4 linear meters, because that length fits through standard doors and stairwells.
Continuity is therefore a matter of where the joints fall and how they are made. We plan them at the drawing stage, choosing the division to fit the wall length rather than the other way around. When quilting chesterfield, this has additional significance because the pattern must match at the junction of two segments, otherwise the break stands out more than the gap itself.
