Klub 7 Nebo in Brno: fabric sourced from Turkey and four weeks for everything

Klub 7 Nebo at Jánská 453/9 in the centre of Brno came to us with a finished vision and one condition: nothing from the catalogue. We made bespoke booths, upholstered walls, an upholstered staircase and tables with RGB LED lighting there. All in a black glitter fabric that was not in any Polish swatch book.

Scope of the project

The fabric was not available in Poland, so we sourced it from Turkey

The client wanted a black glitter fabric, and there was no substitute. Deep black gives a calm background, and the glitter catches spotlights and LED lighting in fine sparkles. A material with a different weave would give a different effect, so swapping it for the nearest equivalent from a local catalogue was out of the question.

We have hundreds of swatch books, and in most orders we find in them what the client is looking for. Here we did not, so we sourced the material from the Turkish market. If you have a specific vision of texture or colour, we check whether it can be sourced from outside before proposing something similar.

Four weeks, despite sourcing material from abroad

The whole project, from concept to finished furniture, took four weeks. That falls within the 3 to 6 week range we give for standard custom production, although it included a stage that an ordinary order does not have.

Sourcing a fabric adds the time to order and deliver it, not a whole new cycle. We achieved the same lead time at Stara Przepompownia in Ostrów Wielkopolski, with 130 linear metres of seating and 22 tables, and at the Kaffel bakery café in Gliwice with 5.3 metres of sofa. Scale and complexity change; the lead time stays within the range.

The upholstery did not stop at the furniture

The same black fabric went onto the walls and the staircase, where we made tufted panels with lighting. As a result the interior no longer looks as if it were made of separate elements.

It also has an effect you cannot see in a photo. A soft surface on the wall absorbs some of the sound reflected by hard materials, so people can talk at the table without raising their voices. In a club with music playing all night, it decides whether guests stay at the table or leave after a quarter of an hour.

We handle wall upholstery as a separate service and price it individually, because the area and the division into panels are different every time.

Tables with RGB LED lighting

Changing light colours let the room's mood be set for the time of the evening: calmer, warm light at the start and stronger accents during the party. The venue controls this itself, without replacing anything.

We made similar tables, though with a different construction and a top of VSG safety glass, at Stara Przepompownia in Ostrów Wielkopolski. We price each such piece separately, because it differs in size, shape and the way the wiring is run.

Why clubs order custom furniture

Ready-made catalogue furniture assumes a rectangular room with walls at right angles. A club is rarely like that, and it usually has its own identity that cannot be assembled from elements available to everyone.

With a custom order you choose the shape, the fabric and extras such as lighting for a specific interior, and we design booths, walls and tables as one set. We sew in our own workshop, so a change at the design stage does not need to be agreed with a middleman.

Yes. For club 7 Nebo we sourced a black glitter fabric from the Turkish market, because Polish swatch books had no equivalent giving the same effect.

Will a glitter fabric last in a club?

We choose the material so that it meets the visual requirements and withstands intensive use. Every fabric we offer for venues has at least 40,000 Martindale cycles, and most of our range exceeds 100,000.
