Club sofa, VIP couch, booth: the name changes, the construction does not

In clubs the same piece of furniture is called a club sofa, a VIP couch, a VIP booth or a booth. We say booth, interior architects usually say sofa, and guests simply say couch.

It is worth knowing this when you compare offers, because two price lists describing a "club sofa" and a "club booth" may concern exactly the same furniture, only priced differently: per piece or per linear metre. We price per metre.

The VIP area earns twice

A club earns on the VIP area twice: once on the table itself, and again because guests want to show that table off. The booth decides both at once, because it is the background of every photo that comes out of that area.

So with club orders we talk about durability, and separately about how the furniture looks on a phone in low light. These are two different criteria and they rarely point to the same model.

From four people to twelve, without calling a crew

We design the segments as modules so they can be rearranged for a group of four or for twelve with bottle service, without an installation crew every time. We make modules up to 1.4 linear metres long, as standard 1 metre and 1.2 metres.

That length is not random. A segment up to 1.4 metres fits through a standard door and staircase, so changing the layout does not mean taking the furniture apart.

Club lighting changes the colour of a fabric more than the swatch shows

Under a coloured spotlight navy can turn black and bottle green can go grey. It is the most common cause of disappointment at the handover of a club order, and the only one you cannot predict from behind a desk.

That is why we send the swatch book before you decide, within 1 to 2 working days of our conversation, and ask you to look at it on site with the stage lighting on. Not by a window and not in daylight, but in exactly the conditions in which guests will see the furniture.

When a fabric is not in our swatch book

Before you decide we do not have something, ask. We keep hundreds of swatch books, and they include things you cannot see on the website. If you are still looking for a particular texture or colour outside this collection, we check whether it can be sourced from outside.

That adds a fabric-ordering stage to the order, but it gives the effect you wanted, not the nearest available approximation. We also sew with fabric supplied by the client, if the architect is running the whole interior in one collection.

A club is cleaned every day, and cleaning wears furniture faster than guests

The cleaning crew works fast and has no time to be gentle, so the fabric has to take the cleaning agent used every night. Every fabric we offer for venues has at least 40,000 Martindale cycles, and most of the range exceeds 100,000.

We run the seams so that they do not collect liquid. For club orders we advise against light fabrics in the areas by the bar, because a drink stain stays on them for good, whatever the quality of the material.

Upholstered walls in the same fabric

We also upholster walls in a material matched to the seats. Apart from the look, this has a practical effect: a soft surface dampens reflections, so people can talk at the table without raising their voices.

In a club where music plays all night, that is the difference between a table where guests stay and one they leave after a quarter of an hour. You can see how it works in practice at Klub 7 Nebo in Brno, where the booths, the walls and the staircase are finished in upholstery.

A club is refreshed in stages, not once every ten years

The main room and the VIP rooms usually follow different rhythms. So we choose the models and fabrics in such a way that a segment bought two years later can be matched to the rest.

We have worked in the furniture industry since 2005 and complete more than 50 orders a year, so we know which solutions withstand night-time operation and which look good only in a photo from installation day.

Club booths in real venues

At Hype club in Szczecin we finished the VIP area with Sofa Chesterfield and designed the furniture for the VIP rooms from scratch together with the interior architect. At Złota Bila in Blue City, Warsaw, a billiards club, we made booths, chairs and bar stools, and the furniture separates the playing area from the food and drink area.

We make the same constructions for nightclubs, bars, pubs and restaurants. You choose the finish under upholstered and leather booths, and an unusual VIP area plan is handled by custom booths.
