Hôtel Royal Beaulaincourt: sofas sewn from fabric the client sent us

Round custom upholstered restaurant sofa at Hôtel Royal Beaulaincourt, with a fresco in the background

For the four-star Hôtel Royal Beaulaincourt at 22 Rue du Tribunal in Béthune we made a set of upholstered furniture for the restaurant area: sofas, bar stools and poufs. We designed the form and dimensions for this particular interior, and sewed the covers from Alcantara that the client supplied themselves.

Scope of the project

Element Details
Furniture restaurant sofas, bar stools, poufs
Material Alcantara supplied by the client
Design form and dimensions designed for the hotel interior
Property four-star hotel, restaurant area
Location Béthune, France

The client came with their own fabric

We have Alcantara in our swatch books, but this one did not come from us. The hotel had chosen the material before getting in touch about the furniture and sent it to us for production.

We sew with supplied fabric as a matter of course and do not treat it as an exception. It happens most often when a design studio runs the whole interior in one collection and does not want to leave it for the seating. A hotel is a typical case, because the upholstery in the restaurant area has to keep the same level as the rest of the property.

Someone else's material changes the way we cut

With our own fabric we can order the missing metre. With supplied fabric we cannot, because the client bought as much as they bought, and there is no guarantee that another batch will have the same shade.

So we plan the cut for the exact quantity we received before cutting the first piece. We lay out the patterns so as to leave a margin for corrections, not to use the material down to the last centimetre and hope nothing goes wrong. With an order from abroad this matters twice over: another shipment of fabric from France to Poland is not a matter of one day.

A hotel is judged in the first few minutes

A guest walks into the lobby and forms an opinion of the property's standard before reaching the reception desk. The furniture in the common area then works as a calling card, not as equipment.

That is why with hotels we make a complete set, not individual seats. Sofas, bar stools and poufs in one material keep one level of finish across the whole area. A perfectly chosen sofa next to bar stools bought separately in a different shade spoils the impression more effectively than having neither.

How we run an order abroad

The process is the same as at home: measuring or a floor plan of the interior, a segment design, approval of the quote, production, transport to the site. The difference lies in the logistics, which we plan for the address and the installation date, not in the design itself.

Besides France we have furnished venues in Germany, the Czech Republic and Hungary in this way. For larger orders we arrange transport in a whole truck from a freight company, which lets us deliver the complete set in one trip and time the unloading to the hour the property allows.

If you run an interior in one collection

A design studio that has chosen a fabric and does not want to leave it has a simple path with us. You send the material, we sew, and we agree the form of the furniture just as with an order from our swatch book.

Tell us in the first conversation how many metres of fabric you have available, because that determines how we lay out the patterns and whether the quantity is enough for the planned set at all. We take orders from 1 linear metre: +48 535 080 040.

Frequently asked questions

Will you make furniture from my fabric?

Yes, sewing with supplied fabric is a normal service for us. That is how the furniture for Hôtel Royal Beaulaincourt was made, where the hotel supplied the Alcantara.

How much fabric do I need to send?

It depends on the model and the length of the run. Tell us at the quotation stage how many metres you have, and we will work out whether it is enough and plan the cutting layout with a margin for corrections.

Do you make furniture for export?

Yes. Besides France we have furnished venues in Germany, the Czech Republic and Hungary. The design process is identical to that at home; only the transport logistics differ.

Do you match bar stools and poufs to sofas?

Yes, and with hotels it is standard, because the whole seating area should keep one level of finish. In Béthune the set included sofas, bar stools and poufs in the same material.

Is Alcantara in your range?

Yes, we have it in our swatch books. In Béthune the client had chosen the material before contacting us, so we sewed with their Alcantara instead of proposing our own. Besides it, our swatch books have high-quality velours and Polish-made faux leathers, all with a resistance of at least 40,000 Martindale cycles and most above 100,000.
