Booth Babilon

In a typical booth the vertical channels run over the backrest and the seat stays plain. In Babilon they go further: across the whole seat and down the front edge to the floor.

It is the only model of ours in which the stitching pattern wraps around the whole piece. From the other end of the room it reads as vertical stripes, not as a band of fabric with a decorative backrest.

A seat at 45 cm instead of 43

Almost all our booths have the seat 43 cm above the floor, the height of a standard restaurant chair. Babilon stands 2 cm higher.

That difference works during longer sitting. A higher seat means knees bent less and less effort in standing up, which shows best with older guests and with those who stay for a third coffee. With a table of the standard 75 cm height there are 30 cm of clearance, so legs fit comfortably.

If you are furnishing a room where some seats are booths and some are chairs, check the height of your chairs. At 43 cm, guests at one table will sit at two different levels.

Rounded sides, furniture without an ugly side

Babilon ends in a soft curve, and the stitching runs right to the end. There is no raw edge here and no panel that has to be hidden.

The result is practical. The sofa can stand freely in the middle of the room, with its back to the walkway or its side to the window, and it looks finished from every side. Booths with a sharp end have to be placed against a wall or another booth to hide the side.

The furniture stands on round feet 5 cm high. The clearance under the seat is enough for a mop to reach under the whole length.

Where Babilon looks best

This model is bought by venues with a strong interior, not by those looking for a neutral background. Vertical stripes need space and light to come into their own.

In one of our projects two colours stand side by side: mustard and sea green, in a room with a mural and a herringbone floor. The booths were placed partly against the wall and partly freely, back to back. With two colours the furniture organises the table layout without any marking of zones.

It works in restaurants, hotel breakfast rooms, cafés and clubs.

Why it costs more than Paris

Babilon starts at PLN 899 per linear metre, Booth Paris at PLN 750. Two things make the difference, and both can be counted.

The first is the stitching on the seat. Channels on the backrest are sewn flat; channels on the seat have to pass over the rounded front edge and keep an even spacing along the whole curve. That is completely different work.

The second is the height. Babilon is 100 cm instead of 95, which means more fabric and more foam in every metre.

The price includes high-resilience furniture foam and fabric from our range. The minimum we use is 40,000 Martindale cycles, and most fabrics exceed 100,000.

No. The stitching is shallow and does not form pockets where crumbs could collect. The seat is wiped with one cloth, just like plain furniture.

Can I order two colours in one order?

Yes, and we often do. With an order from one batch of fabric we can be sure the shade matches across all the furniture.

Can Babilon be made at short notice?
