Snake is a modular system for open spaces. The straight element is its basic building block, and together with the other four modules it makes seating of any shape: a run along a wall, an L, a wave along an arcade or a full circle standing freely in the middle of the room.
We built the first such set for the Ptak shopping centre near Łódź, one of the largest retail spaces in Poland. Since then we have made it to order in any configuration. Snake differs from our booths in one thing: the seat is forty centimetres high, not forty-three as in the Basic, Parma, Paris or Monaco models.
Forty centimetres is a different way of use
A seat at 43 cm is chosen to suit a table. The guest sits upright, eats and leaves. Snake is 40 cm, a lounge height: you sit lower and more loosely, more often with a drink than with a plate.
This works in lounge areas, waiting rooms, shopping arcades and lobbies, meaning places where the furniture does not stand at a dining table. If you are planning a restaurant room with tables, go for a booth with a 43 cm seat.
How the system works
| Module | Function | Price from |
|---|---|---|
| Snake, straight element | straight section, built in metres | PLN 799/lm |
| Snake 2 | corner, turns the run through a right angle | PLN 1,180/pc |
| Snake 4 | quarter arc, builds curves and circles | PLN 2,100/pc |
| Snake 3 | square pouf 70x70 cm | PLN 389/pc |
| Snake 5 | triangular pouf, wedge | PLN 390/pc |
We price the straight element per linear metre, because you set its length yourself. The other modules have a fixed size, so they are priced per piece.
Dimensions
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Overall height | 80 cm |
| Seat height | 40 cm |
| Depth | 70 cm |
| Price | from PLN 799 per linear metre |
All modules in the system have the same seat height and the same depth, so they join in one line whatever order you place them in.
Furniture for a space with no wall
A booth is designed for a wall. Snake does not need one at all, because it stands freely and closes itself off: as a circle, a wave or an island in the middle of the room.
That opens up uses a booth cannot handle. A shopping arcade, a hotel lobby, a waiting area, a showroom, an office space, a cinema or clinic foyer. Everywhere there the seating has to stand on its own, and often also organise the movement around it. A low forty-centimetre seat suits such places better than dining height.
The first set was made for the Ptak shopping centre near Łódź, and that is where we tested how far the system can be stretched. A shopping arcade of that size is in fact the toughest test for such furniture: traffic lasts all day, the seats stand freely with no wall behind them, and the composition has to organise the space, not just fill it.
For the designer: a system that needs no technical drawing
With a booth made to measure, the studio sends a floor plan, we send back a segment design, then comes approval and production. With Snake this stage looks different, because you assemble the shape from blocks of known dimensions.
All you need is to count how many metres of straight section, how many corners, how many quarter arcs and how many poufs give the intended form. The quote comes straight from that list, and the client sees it before anything goes into production.
The same ability to go beyond the catalogue is behind the RGB LED illuminated tables at Stara Przepompownia and the bespoke fabric designed for the VIP rooms of Hype club in Szczecin. If you come with your own idea, there is plenty to talk about.
When a modular system beats a booth made to measure
A made-to-measure booth is made for one particular room layout. When the room changes, the furniture stays as it was.
The Snake system can be rearranged. The same set of modules forms a different composition when you move zones, divide the space differently or move to another venue. You buy flexibility instead of a perfect fit to one floor plan.
The price of that is that you assemble the shape from ready blocks. In a room with an unusual angle or a curved wall, a booth sewn to measure will fill the space more precisely.
Construction, fabric and lead time
The simple, rounded form and stable construction work in places with heavy traffic: shopping centres, restaurants and hotels. Foam chosen for continuous use, the same in all modules of the system.
Our fabrics for venues have a minimum of 40,000 Martindale cycles, and most of the range exceeds 100,000. We put the sample book together for a specific venue and send it within 1 to 2 working days of a conversation.
Made-to-measure production takes 3 to 6 weeks, counted from the moment your payment is booked: +48 535 080 040.
Frequently asked questions
What are the dimensions of the Snake straight element?
Overall height 80 cm, seat height 40 cm, depth 70 cm. You set the length yourself, because we price the element per linear metre.
Where does Snake stand?
We built the first set for the Ptak shopping centre near Łódź. The system works in open spaces: shopping arcades, hotel lobbies, waiting areas and showrooms.
How does Snake differ from an ordinary booth?
In seat height and the way it is built. Snake has a 40 cm seat instead of 43, so it is lower and lounge-style, and the shape is assembled from ready modules instead of being sewn for one floor plan.
How do I join straight elements into a larger seating area?
You place them next to each other in a run, and where the direction changes you insert Snake 2 for a right angle or Snake 4 for an arc. All modules have the same height and depth, so the seat line stays continuous.
Is Snake made to measure?
The straight element is, because the client sets its length. The other modules have fixed dimensions and are priced per piece.
How much does the Snake straight element cost?
From PLN 799 per linear metre.
